Distance Education in Delphi
|
What is Distance Education?
Distance education is a formal learning activity, made possible by communications technology, in which students and instructor are separated by distance or by time. Although several technologies are possible, the library offers this service via satellite dish. Students can communicate with the instructor by using a special phone that allows for direct connection.
What can Distance Education do for you?
You can attend college courses, for credit, without driving away from Delphi. Many of these courses are live, giving you the opportunity to interact with your instructor during class. You can take continuing education classes just for fun or to learn something new, or you can take credit classes to work toward a degree.
Where do you sign up and attend classes?
To enroll, you must first contact the institution who is sponsoring the course or from whom you are seeking a degree. (Schedules of courses available via distance education are available at the Delphi Public Library.) Then you contact Sara Daly-Brosman at the library (564-2929) and arrange to come to the library at the time your course is to be broadcast. Accommodations for single students and group instruction are available.
