Use this database to find:

  1. Birth, marriage, and death records.
  2. Immigration records.
  3. Census records.
  4. Family trees.
  5. Military service records.
  6. City directories.

To get there:

  1. Go to DPL's website (www.carrollnet.org/dpl).
  2. Click the Other Online Databases & Library Resources link.
  3. Click Ancestry Library Edition. You must use this database inside the library building. Licensing does not permit outside usage.

To do a quick search:

  1. Click Historical Recordes.
  2. Click to check the Exact matches only box.
  3. Type the name of the person you're looking for.
  4. Type the birth and death years and country and state if you have that information.
  5. Click Search.

To broaden your search:

  1. Uncheck the Exact matches only box.
  2. Use wildcards in the first and last names to cover all possible alternative forms and spellings. Put ? or * at the middle or end of names where you expect variations. (Example: type Wil* Sm?th)
