Our Club

The Delphi Rotary Club began on March 1, 1939. Our sponsor was the Logansport club represented by Jack E. Yarian, who later became District Governor in 1945. Mayor Clay Pearson, a charter member, gave the address of welcome, George W. Obear a charter member is still an active member today.

With the exception of periodic business meetings, each meeting features a guest speaker. This forum allows members of our club and community to hear from politicians on the local and federal level, local business leaders as well as a wide variety of interesting people in our area.

Member Jack Cross has directed RYLA at Camp Tecumseh for several years. Approximately 70 high school students participate in this youth leadership conference each year from clubs in our district #6540. Also, our club sponsors from to five Dephi students at this conference.

In this year our club has agreed to be a "HUB CLUB" for the Group Study Exchange from Argentina in April 2002. Six of the Foreign study group will stay in local Rotary member homes for three days of their thirty day visit. Also, we are sending one person to Argentina in the Group Study Exchange there.

The Delphi Rotary Club is currently giving two to three $1,000 scholarships annually to outstanding Delphi High School graduates.

We have listed just a few of the annual club projects. To learn more about the Delphi Rotary Club, you are welcome to visit us on Tuesday at noon in the basement of the Delphi United Methodist Church building located at 118 North Union Street. We look forward to your visit!
