Fisher 1266-X
Fisher's 1266-X is truly an amazing detector. It comes factory shipped
with 8" Open Center Spider Coil, instruction manual and Fisher's 5 Year
Warranty. The 1266-X has "Duel Discrimination" which will allow you to
search at a DEEP depth, and reject most un-wanted targets. If set
right, the "Duel Discrimination" will allow you to dig nickels and gold,
and reject pull tabs. With most detectors, you have to dig pull tabs to
find nickels and gold. NOT if the Disc is set right!! Another feature
is the Sensitivity. Even with this set at nearly the lowest point, you
can still easily detect a dime at 7" in HIGHLY MINERALIZED
soil.
There are some downsides of the 1266-X. One is this unit don't
work very well on wet saltwater beaches. It don't work good near
saltwater at all. Another downside is the depth. After a while of
digging over 1’, you get tired of digging. The 1266-X can't help it,
you dig deep targets any way you turn. Another bad thing is you can't
get a 1265-X or another 1266-X near the unit. They run at the same
frequency and they tend to chatter to each other. These are all the
problems I have found so far.
The 1266-X also has a brother. The
1266-XB, which has all of the features of the 1266-X, except it breaks
down, and comes with a hard shell carrying case. The 1266-X can be
found on the Net with a price of $362.00. The XB is around $480.00.
